by Reverend Dan on May 28, 2021“Behold, I am making all things new.”
Revelation 21:5
It’s about that time. Monday is Memorial Day, the “unofficial” start to summer. Graduation and baseball and picnics and vacations at the beach and July 4th (and mosquitos and sunburn and jellyfish stings . . .)
My summer will be a time with lots of changes. First, I’m working on figuring out what post-Covid pastoring looks like. Lots of different opinions on how that will work, so I’m having to navigate that mine field where opinions are plentiful and varied.
Sadly, as a result of that, the devotionals will be ending at the end of June. They served a great purpose during the pandemic isolation (at least I hoped they did), but it’s time to get from behind the computer screen and back out into the world. You can still get my sermons on the website (www.unionridgechurch.org) so it won’t be a total cold-turkey withdrawal. Please know how much I’ve enjoyed your company during the last year and a-half but remember that God is always working to make all things new, and the time has come.
Which leads to today’s question: are you looking forward to the new? Not “getting back to normal” because, folks, that just ain’t gonna happen. We’ll be establishing new normal, and truth be told, that’s what God wants. To see the possibility in every day, to take every chance we have to share His love and grace, and to be excited about what’s around the corner.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day weekend, and for goodness sakes . . . put on sunscreen!
Father help us to look forward to each new day and rely on Your presence in it. In Jesus’ name, AMEN.
