During this week of Vacation Bible School, we’re going back into the archives of “Today’s Thought”. Enjoy!

"Blessed is the man who perseveres."

                                                James 1:12

On opening day of the 1954 Major League Baseball season, the Milwaukee Braves visited the Cincinnati Reds.

Two rookies began their major league careers that day.  One shone like a bright star, exhibiting great potential.  The other did not.

The Reds won the game 9-8 behind the hitting of rookie sensation Jim Greengrass (is that a name made for baseball or what?!), who had four doubles in his first big league game.

The rookie starting in left field for the Braves that day went 0 for 5, showing little promise.  His name was Hank Aaron.

Don't let one day from the past define who you are.  Persevere, and show up to play every day.  For simply in persevering the trials of our lives, we grow and are blessed.

"Father, Give us the courage and strength to persevere, regardless of the circumstances around us.  And in the process, help us to learn to lean on you.  In Jesus' name, AMEN."

Grace,

Rev. Dan
